All runners must take the provided buses to the start. NO GETTING DROPPED OFF AT START. The buses will depart from the Winthrop Barn (2 blocks from the finish line) 1/4 mile west of downtown Winthrop on Hwy 20 within walking distance from all the Winthrop motels. Parking is limited so please walk or carpool. Your warm clothes will be transported back to the finish line–please bring a bag labeled with your name and bib number to keep things tidy and so you don’t lose your favorite jacket or clothes.

There will be aid stations for the marathon runners at the following distances: 3.6, 6.9, 9.9, 13.1, 15.9, 18.4, 20.7, 23.1, and 25.8.

There will be aid stations for the half marathon runners at the following distances: 2.8, 5.3, 7.6, 10.0, and 12.7.

All the aid stations will have water and GU Brew (electrolyte drink), GU Energy gels, Succeed electrolyte capsules, toilet paper, vaseline, duct tape and band-aids.

There will be portable toilets at a few of the marathon and half marathon aid stations. As well as several at the starting line, finish line and at the bus pickup location.

Spectators and crew are only allowed at the designated spectator locations (see below)–runners getting support from anyone other than volunteers or race staff outside of those spectator areas will be disqualified. No baby joggers allowed on the course. The course is planned to be open for only 7 hour. Friends and family can run part of the course with you but they must not drive anywhere on the course to meet you except to the designated spectator locations (see below).

Runners who would like support in addition to what is provided by the race may ask the race director for approval.

COURSE SUPPORT AND RULES /

This is not a very spectator friendly race, there are only 3 spots on the marathon course (and only 2 on the half marathon course) where your friends or family can see you during the race (mile 5.3 and 16.5 for the marathon and mile 3.4 for the half marathon and at the finish for both) and they must follow the directions under the course info tab precisely. That being said, Winthrop and the Methow Valley are full of things for your friends and family to do while you run. They can go for a hike, enjoy Winthrop's charming shops, or volunteer at an aid station -- they get to see you on the course and get a free ticket for the post race meal!
